Jewelry for space

This is the installation at the exhibition with the theme of jewelry and architecture. Jewelry is decoration generally done to people, but this is an experiment to expand the concept and possibilities of jewelry by doing it to architecture and space. Two architects (Ryuji Nakamura, Yuko Nagayama) created each jewelry for the gallery space. Whereas I exhibited solids she exhibited images. Although each of the two installations is independent, they share one same space and affect each other. I installed three ring-shaped objects with the diameter of 3.2 m. The carbon ring has elasticity and stands by being caught between the floor and the ceiling while deforming. Just like a necklace deforms according to the shape of a person and produces an elegant curve, each of the three rings directly reads the uneven ceiling height of this gallery space and then draws the deformed circle in the air according to the ceiling height and creates the space. And those shapes let visitors know the size and shape of this space. On the other hand, she projected images of three clear figures (red and yellow) like painting on the wall. At first, the red figures disappears as slowly as the change can not be recognized (the white strange patterns of the stencil actually applied to the wall appears as the red figures disappears) and next the yellow same figures so slowly appear. Some part of the figure reflects on the white thin frame of the rings I installed as if some paint adhere.
