Concrete roof

This is the model of the architecture that I proposed at the exhibition "Space Ourselves" organized by radlab. In response to the theme "Public space created by ourselves", we proposed a small roof to interrupt sunshine and rain. The structure is the rigid frame structure of reinforced concrete. The material and structure are commonly used in large public buildings and the shape also is the shape like a part of a large public building is cut off. You build the formwork, set the rebar, knead the concrete, pour it into the formwork, wait until it solidifies and remove the formwork, and it is completed. You may feel a reinforced concrete building is so cold and aloof if you are given it in the finished state. But if you make it yourself, you feel it very familiar and you can realize that you are making it. You inevitably feel various feelings when you build the formwork, mix water, cement and aggregate, knead it, pour it into the formwork, remove the formwork. The thrilling feeling that you do not know whether it will work until removing the formwork may be similar to the feeling of making ceramics. I am sure that you can feel the origin of huge architecture.

コンクリートルーフ

radlab.による展覧会「Space Ourselves」で提案した建築である。「自分達でつくる公共空間」というテーマに対し、日差しや雨だけをしのげる小さな屋根を提案した。構造は鉄筋コンクリートのラーメン構造である。大きな公共建築でよく使われる素材と構造で、その一部を切り取ったような形をしている。型枠を組んで、鉄筋を設置して、コンクリートを練って、型枠に流し込み、固まるのを待ち、型枠を取り外し、完成である。鉄筋コンクリートの建物は、出来上がったものを与えられると、とても冷たくよそよそしく感じられるかもしれない。しかし、いざ自分で作ってみると、とても親しみがあり、作っているという感覚を実感できる作り方である。型枠を組むとき、水とセメントと骨材を混ぜて練るとき、型枠に流し込むとき、型枠を外すとき、様々なことを感じることになる。出来上がりを想像しながら、最後までうまくいくかどうか分からないドキドキした感じは、陶芸の感覚にも似ているかもしれない。きっと巨大な建築の原点を感じられるのではないかと思う。
